Final post for today

Three is enough for one day, I think.

So, Jamund used to be in the Bishopric of a Young Single Adult Ward (it used to be a BYU ward but then they combined things) in Provo.

Now he is not.

This is kind of a big deal because we spent over 2 years there, and now we are going back to a "family ward" and people aren't just coming over during church and demanding to take Simon from me. I suppose they have or had their own kids and actually like just looking at a baby, sighing, and thinking, "Phew, glad I don't have to deal with that anymore during church."

Or something like that.

Simon, of course, had to make friends with an older lady (he's used to the singles, after all). She was probably 6 (?) and had some Goldfish crackers. It was cute when she gave him one. It was cute when she gave him another. It was cute when he was playing on the floor and started going under the pew and I looked down to see a little hand offering him another cracker.

It stopped being cute when she handed him the bag of crumbs and he enthusiastically waved it around during Sacrament meeting, getting crumbs all over.

Ah, church.

Regardless of that being cute or not, we thought he was looking rather dapper.

So this one time...

...Jamund went on a trip to Portland and we got to see each other via technology.

I suppose "oldies" is a relative term. When you have an "infant" (under one), sometimes it feels like last week's photos can be termed "oldies."

These photos are even older than that! Shocking!

Jamund and I were discussing last night if Simon maybe really wasn't as adorable or as cute as we imagined in the early days...which may be an awful thing to say. I think he gets better with age. Is that nicer? We love and adore the man, regardless. (But hair does improve babies, I think).

Happy and Sad

Well, maybe not sad, but creepy.

First comes happy (sorry the coloring sucks and changes. Hmm.):

This was last week, before the onslaught of rain.

Also before Chuck mowed our lawn for us. Thanks, Chuck!

Simon is a now basically a pro crawler/stander/pulling himself up stairs sort of guy. Eeek!

Creepy comes in 2 parts:

1. This little guy (girl?):

2. "Wuthering Heights." Seriously, Emily Bronte? What was wrong with the Bronte family that made them write creepy books? And why have these creepy books become creepy movies?

I think I was more creeped out by Ralph Fiennes as Heathcliff than I was by Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort. I'm thinking the "Harry Potter" casting people watched Fiennes in "Wuthering Heights" and said, "That's our man!" Jeez.

I do, however, respect Kate Bush's take on the novel all the more now.

But man. Such a creepy film.

Oh, one more creepy thing:

3. After watching "Wuthering Heights," I went upstairs and our big arch window shade had fallen from its proper position so the shade was just hanging precariously.... Cathy?!

But really. Don't watch that movie or read that book. Please.

Bad for babies?

Is chocolate bad for babies?

We try not to feed it to him so much, but sometimes he grabs a bit and stuffs it in his mouth. (We had such an incident with some blond brownie on Sunday, too. He was not pleased with my attempt(s) to get the chunk out his mouth using force).

Anyway, it was Simon's 10 month "birthday" last week. It's getting harder to take photos of him with a dessert wherein he doesn't attempt to attack said dessert.

But it's still pretty cute.

Just some stuff

So, in the last week, we...

1. Moved the "bed" of Simon's crib down, due to his new found love of pulling himself up and standing.

2. Went to the BYU Museum of Art to see the Carl Bloch and this exhibit:

3. Said goodbye to papa for the week as he went to JSConf and Node Conf in Portland.

4. Played outside and took walks (nice get up, right? Oh man.)

5. Went out to eat together. Mother-son dates are not all that exciting at this stage, well, except for the fact that Simon tries to grab anything he can within reach. He is also very uninterested in his mother when other people are around, or so it would seem.

6. Went to the park.

7. Went to Beehive Bazaar.

8. Went out to eat with papa and baby:

9. Got a new swimsuit (mom). I had read that "Called to Surf" in the Riverwoods has modest suits. This is true. I tried on one, it was so-so, and then I went to Soel Boutique. I had been liking a few suits on the Shabby Apple website, and imagine my delight when Soel carried some of these very suits! I tried two on, and decided on a red-white stripe one.

I was so pleased that I got to try it on and didn't have to pay for shipping BUT then I was asked if I was on the e-mail list (which I am, but I think the spam folder got their latest e-mail)... because it was 20% off one item for Mother's Day! Hooray! They are nice and lovely there and gave me the 20% off even though I had been clueless and would've gone on my merry way having paid full price. So, when it was all said and done, I didn't have to pay shipping, tried it on first, and got 20% off! Nice.

Anyway, it will be a nice swimming summer, hopefully. At least a few times.
